Paul Mooney visits High Spen Primary

On Tuesday 9th February Paul Mooney (BBC Look North Weather man) came to visit children in Class C.

The children had a wonderful time meeting Paul!

To begin with, the children asked lots of questions and Paul was really impressed at how much the children in Class C knew about the weather! Mrs Coates was also very impressed at how well they listened and welcomed their visitor.

After breaktime, Paul set up a large canvas screen and the children worked in small groups presenting the weather. One person was the weather presenter, one was a director and the third person was the camera man / woman. It was great fun!!

We were fascinated to find out all of the jobs involved in presenting the weather! You have to listen to the director (in an ear piece in your ear) and remember where to point on the blank screen - which is trickier than it looks! You also need to be able to extend the weather (if the director tells you to) or stop talking quickly if they give you the instruction to stop! All in all it really made our brains work!

Check out the gallery of our photographs of us presenting the weather in the 'Gallery' section of the website.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day and many of Class C wish to work for the BBC (presenting the weather, being a camera man/woman or director) when they grow up!

Many thanks to Paul Mooney for giving up his time to help further the knowledge and understanding of our 'Weather' topic.
