At High Spen we pride ourselves on providing an exciting curriculum that makes sense to children. We seek sensible links in learning from previous years and other subjects – so it is important to be in and ready to learn every day.

We have recently dedicated significant amounts of time exploring current thinking around what teachers can do to help children learn, remember and do more. Mrs Heron is our Cognitive Load Guru. She did a great job of leading the rest of us through this learning (but don’t tell her I said so!)

This year Mr Cradock and Mrs Bainbridge are leading the way as our Oracy Champions. Working with Voice 21, they are testing out a whole range of new learning with their own classes (Nursery and Y5) before sharing what works well so that the rest of our staff and children may benefit.
